Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I lose the phone or SIM card?

In the event that you lose your SIM card, we'll be happy to replace it if you're within Addis. If you lose it before the end of your rental, we will refund you the amount for the remaining days of your reservation minus a replacement cost of 50 ETB (approx. $2.75)

What happens if I request a taxi and my taxi doesn't arrive?

If you make a transportation reservation and the driver does not appear, contact us so that we can reach the driver and follow up. Due to the unpredictable nature of traffic in Addis Ababa, we can't always guarantee the availability of taxis but we'll do our best to find you alternatives.

What happens if someone from ArifMobile does not meet me at the location I specified in my reservation?

Should you be unable to meet us at the location you specified or one of our representatives cannot find you, we may take one of several options:

  • You can meet us at our office located across the street from the airport.
  • We will attempt to contact you via e-mail to coordinate another meeting location.

What about a refund if I have a sudden change in travel plans?

All cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Any cancellations made after that are charged a 15% processing fee.

If I need a phone for an extended period of time (two weeks or more), is there a long-term negotiated rate?

We do take long-term rental requests on a case-by-case basis. Contact us by e-mail to learn more.

Which parts of the country will the phone service not work?

3G service is primarily available in Addis Ababa and is currently being rolled out to other major cities within Ethiopia. Should you be in a city without 3G service, your phone should automatically revert to 2G data service if available.

Help! I rented a SIM card and I'm in an area with 3G but it's not working on my phone!

Some mobile phones (particularly Android devices) require adding an APN to access the 3G network. Learn more about how to enable it here.
